( وَأَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، أَنْبَأَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ وَاصِلٍ، عَنِ الْمَعْرُورِ قَالَ:
أُتِيَ عُمَرُ ؓ بِامْرَأَةٍ قَدْ زَنَتْ. فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ: إِنَّمَا جَعَلَ اللهُ أَرْبَعَةَ شُهَدَاءَ سِتْرًا يَسْتُرُكُمْ دُونَ فَوَاحِشِكُمْ، فَلَا يَتَطَلَّعَنَّ سِتْرَ اللهِ أَحَدٌ، أَلَا وَإِنَّ اللهَ لَوْ شَاءَ لَجَعَلَهُ وَاحِدًا صَادِقًا أَوْ كَاذِبًا
