وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ الدَّانَاجِ، عَنْ حُضَيْنٍ أَبِي سَاسَانَ قَالَ:
رَكِبَ نَفَرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَأَتَوْا عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ ؓ فَأَخْبَرُوهُ بِمَا صَنَعَ الْوَلِيدُ فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ: دُونَكَ ابْنَ عَمِّكَ فَاجْلِدْهُ
