أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ قَالَا: أَنْبَأَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، وَحَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَا: ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَلِمَةَ:
أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ؓ أُتِيَ بِسَارِقٍ فَقَطَعَ يَدَهُ، ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِهِ فَقَطَعَ رِجْلَهُ، ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِهِ فَقَالَ: أَقْطَعُ يَدَهُ بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ يَتَمَسَّحُ، وَبِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ يَأْكُلُ ؟ ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَقْطَعُ رِجْلَهُ عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ يَمْشِي ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَحْيِي اللهَ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ ضَرَبَهُ وَخَلَّدَهُ السِّجْنَ
