A man whispered privately to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and it was not known what he whispered to him, until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke aloud, and it turned out that he was asking his permission to kill a man among the hypocrites. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah?" He said: "Yes, but he has no testimony." He said: "Does he not pray?" He said: "Yes, but he has no prayer." So the Prophet ﷺ said: "Those are the ones whom Allah has forbidden me to kill."
