قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنِي أَيْضًا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ:

" كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا بَقِيتُمْ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَرِجَتْ أَمَانَتُهُمْ وَعُهُودُهُمْ، وَكَانُوا هَكَذَا ؟ ". ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ أَصَابِعَهُ بَعْضَهَا فِي بَعْضٍ. فَقَالُوا: فَإِذَا كَانَ كَذَلِكَ كَيْفَ نَفْعَلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: " خُذُوا مَا تَعْرِفُونَ، وَدَعُوا مَا تُنْكِرُونَ ". ثُمَّ خَصَّ بِهَذَا عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ، فَقَالَ: مَا تَأْمُرُنِي بِهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ: " آمُرُكَ بِتَقْوَى اللهِ، عَلَيْكَ بِنَفْسِكَ، وَإِيَّاكَ وَعَامَّةَ الْأُمُورِ
