There is no divorce before marriage, no manumission before ownership, no suckling after weaning, no continuous fasting (wiṣāl), and no vow of silence from day until night.

No source translates this, so this English was written by a computer model. It can be wrong; rely on the Arabic. Report a problem below.

  • Yaḥyá b. Maʿīn

machine translationNothing is authentic from the Prophet ﷺ regarding "there is no divorce before marriage", and the soundest report on it is the ḥadīth of Ibn al-Munkadir, from someone who heard Ṭāwūs, from the Prophet ﷺ, as a mursal report.

machine translationMost of the hadiths of Ḥarām b. ʿUthmān are objectionable (munkar).

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThe sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version is the mursal one, in which Jābir does not appear.

machine translationIbn ʿAdī declared it defective (muʿall) because of Ḥarām, and he reported from al-Shāfiʿī and Ibn Maʿīn that they both said: "Narrating from Ḥarām is forbidden (ḥarām)."
