We were with ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, may God have mercy on him, and we discussed the temporary marriage (mutʿah) of women. A man called Rabīʿ b. Sabrah said: "I bear witness that my father narrated that the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade it during the Farewell Pilgrimage."

وأما حجة الوداع فهو اختلاف على الربيع بن سبرة والرواية عنه بأنها في الفتح أصح وأشهر
machine translationAs for the Farewell Pilgrimage, that is a disagreement over al-Rabīʿ b. Sabrah, and the report from him that it was during the Conquest (of Mecca) is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ) and better known.
