What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationSeveral authentic and explicit hadiths have been reported forbidding it after it had been permitted, and the closest of them in time to the death of the Prophet ﷺ is what Abū Dāwūd transmitted, meaning this one.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationAs for the Farewell Pilgrimage, that is a disagreement over al-Rabīʿ b. Sabrah, and the report from him that it was during the Conquest (of Mecca) is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ) and better known.

  • al-Albani

machine translationAnomalous (shādhdh); what is preserved (maḥfūẓ) is that it was at the time of the Conquest.
