During the time of the Prophet ﷺ, a man had a slave woman who was the mother of his child. She would often slander the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and insult him. He would forbid her, but she would not stop, and he would rebuke her, but she would not be rebuked. Then one night she mentioned the Prophet ﷺ and slandered him. He said: I could not bear it, so I got up, took the pickaxe, placed it on her belly, and leaned on it until I killed her. He said: Her two small children fell between her legs, smeared with blood. When morning came, that was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ. He said: So he gathered the people and said: "I ask by Allah a man who recognizes the right of the Prophet ﷺ, who did what he did, to stand up." He said: Then the blind man, meaning the killer, came forward trembling. He mentioned a word, Abū al-Ḥusayn said: It escaped me. He said: "She was indeed a gentle and kind companion, but she used to slander you often and insult you. I would forbid her but she would not stop, and I would rebuke her but she would not be rebuked. When it was last night, she mentioned you and slandered you, and I could not bear it, so I got up to the pickaxe and placed it on her belly." The Prophet ﷺ said: "Bear witness that her blood is without recompense."
