He forbade the sale of fruits until they show ripeness (tuzhī). It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is 'tuzhī'?" He said: "When they turn red." And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do you see? If Allah withholds the fruit, on what grounds would any of you take his brother's property?"

machine translationMālik narrates it from Ḥumayd from Anas, and he attributed the whole hadith to the Prophet ﷺ. Al-Darāwardī narrated it, in the narration of Muḥammad b. ʿAbbād from him, from Ḥumayd from Anas, and he attributed the end of the hadith (to the Prophet ﷺ) as Mālik attributed it. Ibrāhīm b. Ḥamzah and Yaḥyā b. Sulaymān b. Nuḍlah differed from him and made the end of the hadith the words of Anas. Likewise it was narrated by Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, Bishr b. al-Mufaḍḍal, Abū Khālid al-Aḥmar, Muʿtamir b. Sulaymān, ʿUbaydah b. Ḥumayd, Sufyān b. Ḥabīb, Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb, Marwān b. Muʿāwiyah and Yazīd b. Hārūn; they made the end of the hadith the statement of Anas, and that is the correct view.

machine translationThis is a mistake; it is only the words of Anas. Abū Zurʿah said: Thus al-Darāwardī and Mālik b. Anas narrate it as raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ), while the people narrate it as halted at the Companion (mawqūf), as the words of Anas.
