We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Liyyah, heading for Makkah. When we were at the lote tree, at the edge of al-Qarn al-Aswad opposite it, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced Nakhib with his gaze, then stopped until the people gathered. Then he said: "Indeed, the game of Wajj and its ʿiḍāh trees – meaning its trees – are sacred and forbidden." That was before his descent upon al-Ṭāʾif and his siege of Thaqīf.

وهو محمد بن عبد الله بن إنسان الطائفي راويه المنفرد بهكان يخطئ ومقتضاه تضعيف الحديث فإنه ليس له غيره فإن كان أخطأ فيه فهو ضعيف

machine translationHe is Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. Insān al-Ṭāʾifī, the sole narrator of it; he used to make mistakes. This implies the hadith is weak (ḍaʿīf), since he has no other hadith; if he erred in it, then it is weak.

  • العقيلي

لا يتابع إلا من جهة تقاربه في الضعف
