حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِعَمِّهِ: قُلْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ أَشْهَدْ لَكَ بِهَا عِنْدَ اللهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنْ تُعَيِّرَنِي قُرَيْشٌ لَأَقْرَرْتُ عَيْنَيْكَ بِهَا قَالَ: فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنَّكَ لا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his uncle: 'Say: There is no god but Allah. I will testify for you with it before Allah on the Day of Resurrection.' He said: 'Were it not that Quraysh would reproach me, I would have made your eyes rejoice with it.' He said: So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sent down: 'Indeed you do not guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills, and He is most knowing of those who are guided.'
