✧ A man reviled Abu Bakr while the Prophet ﷺ was sitting. The Prophet ﷺ began to marvel and smile. When he went on at length, Abu Bakr returned some of his words, and the Prophet ﷺ became angry and got up. Abu Bakr caught up with him and said, 'O Messenger of God, he was reviling me while you were sitting, and when I returned some of his words you became angry and got up.' He said, 'There was an angel with you replying on your behalf, but when you returned some of his words, Satan appeared, and I was not going to sit with Satan.' Then he said, 'O Abu Bakr, three things, all of them true: No servant is wronged by an injustice and overlooks it for the sake of God, Mighty and Majestic, but God will strengthen him with it in victory. No man opens a door of giving intending thereby to maintain ties but God increases him with it in abundance. And no man opens a door of begging intending thereby increase but God, Mighty and Majestic, increases him with it in scarcity.'
