✧ While a man and his wife were among the bygone generations, unable to obtain anything, the man came back from his journey and entered upon his wife famished, having been struck by severe hunger. He said to his wife, "Do you have anything?" She said, "Yes, rejoice; Allah's provision has come to you." He urged her, saying, "Woe to you! Look for something if you have anything." She said, "Yes, a little while, hoping for Allah's mercy." When the delay became long for him, he said, "Woe to you! Get up and look; if you have any bread, bring it to me, for I have reached my limit and am exhausted." She said, "Yes, now the oven is baking, so do not rush." When he fell silent for a while and she waited again for him to speak to her, she said of her own accord, "If I were to get up and check my oven." So she got up and found her oven full of sheep sides, and her two millstones were grinding. She went to the mill, shook it out, and took out what was in her oven of sheep sides. Abu Hurayrah said: By the One in whose hand is the soul of Abu al-Qasim, quoting the words of Muhammad ﷺ: "Had she taken what was in her two millstones and not shaken them out, they would have kept grinding until the Day of Resurrection."
