حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ كُهَيْلٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بِمِنًى يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَقَاضَاهُ فَأَغْلَظَ لَهُ قَالَ: فَهَمَّ بِهِ أَصْحَابُهُ فَقَالَ: دَعُوهُ فَإِنَّ لِصَاحِبِ الْحَقِّ مَقَالًا، قَالَ: اشْتَرُوا لَهُ بَعِيرًا فَأَعْطُوهُ إِيَّاهُ قَالُوا: لَا نَجِدُ إِلَّا سِنًّا أَفْضَلَ مِنْ سِنِّهِ قَالَ: فَاشْتَرُوهُ فَأَعْطُوهُ إِيَّاهُ فَإِنَّ مِنْ خَيْرِكُمْ أَحْسَنَكُمْ قَضَاءً.

✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ demanding repayment, and he spoke harshly to him. His companions were about to deal with him, but he said: Leave him, for the one who has a right has a say. He said: Buy a camel for him and give it to him. They said: We find only one older than his. He said: Buy it and give it to him, for the best of you are those who are best in repaying.
