حَدَّثَنَا هَوْذَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ خِلَاسٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

وَاللهِ لَأَنْ يَأْخُذَ أَحَدُكُمْ حَبْلًا فَيَنْطَلِقَ إِلَى هَذَا الْجَبَلِ فَيَحْتَطِبَ مِنَ الْحَطَبِ فَيَبِيعَهُ فَيَسْتَغْنِيَ بِهِ عَنِ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ النَّاسَ أَعْطَوْهُ أَوْ حَرَمُوهُ.

Translation

✧ By Allah, if one of you were to take a rope and go to this mountain, gather firewood, sell it, and thereby become self-sufficient without needing people, that would be better for him than begging from people, whether they give him or refuse him.
