حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ حَدَّثَ
مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ، وَمَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا وَتَبِعَهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ: انْظُرْ مَا تُحَدِّثُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، فَإِنَّكَ تُكْثِرُ الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ فَذَهَبَ بِهِ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ فَصَدَّقَتْ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: وَاللهِ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مَا كَانَ يَشْغَلُنِي عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الصَّفْقُ فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ، مَا كَانَ يُهِمُّنِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَّا كَلِمَةً يُعَلِّمُنِيهَا أَوْ لُقْمَةً يُلْقِمُنِيهَا.

✧ Whoever prays over a funeral bier has a qirat, and whoever prays over it and follows it has two qirats. 'Abd Allah b. 'Umar said to him: 'Consider what you relate, O Abu Hurayrah, for you relate much from the Messenger of God ﷺ.' So he took him by the hand and went with him to 'A'ishah, and she confirmed Abu Hurayrah. Then Abu Hurayrah said: 'By God, O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, what kept me from the Messenger of God ﷺ was not trading in the markets. What concerned me from the Messenger of God ﷺ was only a word he taught me or a morsel he fed me.'
