حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ، وَلَأَخَّرْتُ الْعِشَاءَ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ

Translation

Chain of narrators

  2. ʿUbaydullāh
  3. Saʿīd b. Abū Saʿīd
  4. Abū Hurayrah
  5. Rasūl Allāh ﷺ

✧ Were it not that I would make things difficult for my nation, I would command them to use the tooth-stick with every ablution, and I would delay the evening prayer until a third of the night or half the night.
