✧ Whoever prays a prayer in which he does not recite the Mother of the Book, it is deficient, it is deficient, it is deficient, not complete. I said: O Abu Hurayrah, sometimes I am behind the imam. He squeezed my arm and said: O Persian, recite it within yourself.

  • Mubarakpūri

machine translationThe chains of transmission (asānīd) of this legal opinion (fatwā) are authentic (ṣaḥīḥ).

    in مسند أحمد, p. 7482
  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationThe hadith is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) through al-ʿAlāʾ, from his father and from Abū al-Sāʾib together, from Abū Hurayrah; Abū Uways and others have combined the two of them from him.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 7482
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIbn Samʿān is ʿAbdullāh b. Ziyād b. Samʿān, and he is abandoned in ḥadīth (matrūk al-ḥadīth). A group of trustworthy narrators (thiqāt) narrated this ḥadīth from al-ʿAlāʾ b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, among them Mālik b. Anas, Ibn Jurayj, Rawḥ b. al-Qāsim, Ibn ʿUyaynah, Ibn ʿAjlān, al-Ḥasan b. al-Ḥurr, Abū Uways and others, differing in the chain of transmission but agreeing on the text. None of them mentioned "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" in his ḥadīth. Their agreement against what Ibn Samʿān narrated is more likely to be correct.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 7482
