✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me these words and commanded me, if any distress or hardship befell me, to say them: 'There is no god but Allah, the Generous, the Forbearing. Glory be to Him, and blessed be Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'

machine translationʿAbdullāh b. Shaddād b. al-Hād narrated it from ʿAbdullāh b. Jaʿfar, and there is disagreement about him regarding whether it is raised (marfūʿ). Muḥammad b. Kaʿb al-Quraẓī narrated it from ʿAbdullāh b. Shaddād, from ʿAbdullāh b. Jaʿfar, from ʿAlī, raised to the Prophet ﷺ. Muḥammad b. ʿAjlān, Usāmah b. Zayd al-Laythī and Abān b. Ṣāliḥ narrated it from him, and they agreed on raising it. Ribʿī b. Ḥirāsh opposed them, and narrated it from ʿAbdullāh b. Shaddād, from ʿAbdullāh b. Jaʿfar, from ʿAlī as stopped (mawqūf), not raised. Manṣūr b. al-Muʿtamir narrated it from Ribʿī, and there is disagreement about Manṣūr regarding its chain. Zāʾidah b. Qudāmah and Misʿar b. Kidām narrated it (and there is disagreement about Misʿar), and ʿAmmār b. Ruzayq, Jarīr b. ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd, Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, Ziyād al-Bakkāʾī, Ibn ʿUyaynah and others, from Manṣūr, from Ribʿī, from ʿAbdullāh b. Shaddād, from ʿAbdullāh b. Jaʿfar, from ʿAlī, as stopped (mawqūf). Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Qannād narrated it from Misʿar, from Manṣūr, from Ribʿī, from ʿAlī, omitting two men from the chain, and Muḥammad b. Bishr and Jaʿfar b. ʿAwn followed him from Misʿar. Likewise Shuʿbah narrated it from Manṣūr, and there is disagreement about him. Al-Thawrī narrated it from Manṣūr, and there is also disagreement about him: Wakīʿ narrated it from al-Thawrī and Misʿar, from Manṣūr, like the narration of Zāʾidah and those who followed him. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mahdī narrated it from al-Thawrī and omitted ʿAbdullāh b. Jaʿfar from the chain. The students of Manṣūr agreed from him that the hadith is stopped (mawqūf), except in the narration of Abū Qilābah from Abū Zayd al-Harawī from Shuʿbah, for he raised the hadith to the Prophet ﷺ.
