✧ When your father went as a delegate to Mu'awiyah, I went with him and met Abdullah b. Amr. He narrated to me, from his mouth to my mouth, a hadith he heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He dictated it to me and I wrote it. He said: I adjured you that you make this horse sweat until you bring me the book. He said: I rode the horse and urged it until it sweated, then brought him the book. In it was: Abdullah b. Amr b. al-As narrated to me that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Allah hates obscenity and vulgarity. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the Hour will not come until the trustworthy is betrayed and the treacherous is trusted, until obscenity, vulgarity, severing ties of kinship, and bad neighborliness appear. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the likeness of the believer is like a piece of gold: its owner blows on it, and it does not change or become dusty or diminish. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the likeness of the believer is like a bee: it eats what is good, produces what is good, and lands on a branch without breaking or spoiling it.' He said: And he said: 'Indeed, I have a pool whose two sides are as far apart as from Aylah to Makkah,' or he said, 'from San'a to Madinah, and in it are pitchers like the stars. It is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Whoever drinks from it will never thirst again.' Abu Sabrah said: Then Ubayd Allah b. Ziyad took the book, and I grieved over it. Yahya b. Ya'mar met me, and I complained to him. He said: 'By Allah, I have memorized it better than a surah of the Qur'an.' Then he narrated it to me exactly as it was in the book.
