machine translationWhoever says the hadith is broken (munqaṭiʿ) or weak (ḍaʿīf) is not to be heeded, and it cannot be correct to call it broken in any way, since that is one from which a narrator dropped out before the Companion, or which is not connected; this one is connected, except that it contains an unspecified (mubham) narrator.
in مسند أحمد, p. 6798 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationPeople have discussed the trustworthy one (thiqah) according to Mālik in this place, and the most likely of what was said is that he is Ibn Lahīʿah, and God knows best, because this hadith is most commonly known through Ibn Lahīʿah from ʿAmr b. Shuʿayb.
