حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ رَاشِدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى

أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو كَتَبَ إِلَى عَامِلٍ لَهُ عَلَى أَرْضٍ لَهُ: أَنْ لَا تَمْنَعْ فَضْلَ مَائِكَ؛ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَنْ مَنَعَ فَضْلَ الْمَاءِ لِيَمْنَعَ بِهِ فَضْلَ الْكَلَأِ مَنَعَهُ اللهُ فَضْلَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Translation

✧ Abdullah b. Amr wrote to an agent of his on some land of his: Do not withhold the surplus of your water, for I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Whoever withholds surplus water to withhold thereby surplus pasture, God will withhold His surplus from him on the Day of Resurrection.
