✧ I was with 'Abdullah b. 'Umar in the gathering of Banu 'Abdullah in Makkah. A young man passed by us with his lower garment trailing. He said: 'Come here, young man.' The young man came to him, and he said: 'Who are you?' He said: 'I am one of Banu Bakr b. Sa'd.' He said: 'Would you like God to look at you on the Day of Resurrection?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then raise your lower garment, for I heard Abu al-Qasim ﷺ say with these two ears of mine'—and he pointed with his two fingers to his ears—'Whoever drags his lower garment out of arrogance alone, God will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection.'
