✧ I had access to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at night and during the day. When I entered upon him while he was praying, he would clear his throat. I came to him one night, and he said: Do you know what the angel brought tonight? I was praying when I heard a noise in the house. I went out and there was Jibril ﷺ. He said: I have been waiting for you tonight. There is a dog in your house, so I could not enter. We do not enter a house in which there is a dog, or a person in a state of major ritual impurity, or an image.

machine translationThis is disputed in its chain and its text: it is said that he said "Subḥān Allāh", and it is said that he cleared his throat. He said: its basis rests on ʿAbdullāh b. Nujayy. I say: there is disagreement about him; it is said that he narrated from ʿAlī, and it is said that he narrated from his father, from ʿAlī.
