Musnad Ahmad 5752

Translation

✧ We met the enemy and the Muslims fled a flight, and I was among those who fled. We entered Madinah. He said: 'So we presented ourselves to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he came out for prayer, and we said: "O Messenger of Allah, are we the ones who fled?" He said: "No, you are the ones who return to fight. I am a protection for you."'
