✧ He used to give Umar a stipend, and Umar would say to him: 'Give it, O Messenger of Allah, to one who is poorer than I.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'Take it, and make it your property or give it in charity. Whatever comes to you of this wealth while you are not coveting it or begging for it, take it; and what does not, do not let your soul pursue it.' Salim said: 'For that reason Ibn Umar used not to ask anyone for anything, nor refuse anything.'
