machine translationThis Ḥanash is Ibn al-Muʿtamir, and some say Ibn Rabīʿah. He was a Follower (tābiʿī); Simāk and al-Ḥakam b. ʿUtaybah narrated from him. al-Bukhārī said: "They speak about his ḥadīth," and he included this ḥadīth of his in his book of weak narrators (ḍuʿafāʾ). al-Nasāʾī said: "He is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī)." Ibn Ḥibbān said: "He is not to be used as evidence; he is alone in narrating from ʿAlī things that do not resemble the ḥadīth of the trustworthy." al-Bayhaqī said: "He is not to be used as evidence." Abū Ḥātim said: "He was a righteous servant, but I do not think they use his ḥadīth as evidence." Abū Dāwūd declared him trustworthy (thiqah). al-Bazzār said about this ḥadīth of his: "We know of him only narrating from ʿAlī, and we know of no route for it from ʿAlī except this route."

    in مسند أحمد, p. 578
