حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ: يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَنْ يُصْبِحَ صَلَّى رَكْعَةً تُوتِرُ لَهُ صَلَاتَهُ

Translation

✧ A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the night prayer. He said: "Let one of you pray two rak'ahs at a time. Then, if he fears that morning will come, he should pray one rak'ah, which will make his prayer odd (witr)."
