✧ Uthman sat one day and we sat with him. The mu'adhdhin came to him, and he called for water in a vessel which I think contained a mudd, and he performed ablution. Then he said: “I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution like this ablution of mine, then he said: ‘Whoever performs ablution like this ablution of mine, then stands and prays the Zuhr prayer, he will be forgiven what is between it and the dawn prayer; then he prays the Asr prayer, he will be forgiven what is between it and the Zuhr prayer; then he prays the Maghrib prayer, he will be forgiven what is between it and the Asr prayer; then he prays the Isha prayer, he will be forgiven what is between it and the Maghrib prayer; then perhaps he spends the night rolling over, then if he gets up, performs ablution, and prays the dawn prayer, he will be forgiven what is between it and the Isha prayer. These are the good deeds that remove the evil deeds.’” They said: “These are the good deeds, so what are the enduring good deeds, O Uthman?” He said: “They are: There is no god but Allah, glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, Allah is most great, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah.”
