✧ Abu Bakr asked permission to enter upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was lying on his bed, wearing Aisha's cloak. He gave permission to Abu Bakr while he was in that state, and he fulfilled his need with him, then he departed. Then Umar asked permission, and he gave permission to him while he was in that state, and he fulfilled his need with him, then he departed. Uthman said: Then I asked permission to enter upon him, and he sat up and said to Aisha: “Gather your clothes around you.” So I fulfilled my need with him, then I departed. Aisha said: “O Messenger of Allah, why did I not see you alarmed for Abu Bakr and Umar as you were alarmed for Uthman?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Uthman is a shy man, and I feared that if I gave him permission while I was in that state, he would not convey his need to me.” Al-Layth said: A group of people said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Aisha: “Should I not be shy of one from whom the angels are shy?”
