✧ I was with Ibn ʿUmar when he was asked about nabīdh in earthenware jars, and he said: “The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade it.” It weighed heavily on me when I heard it, so I went to Ibn ʿAbbās and said: “Ibn ʿUmar was asked about something and I made it seem grave.” He said: “And what is it?” I said: “He was asked about nabīdh in earthenware jars, and he said: ‘The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade it.’” He said: “He spoke truthfully; the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade it.” I said: “What is the jar?” He said: “Anything made from clay.”
