✧ Uthman said while delivering a sermon on his pulpit: I shall relate to you a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; nothing prevented me from relating it to you except concern for you. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Guarding one night in the way of Allah is better than a thousand nights in which one stands in prayer and fasts during the day.

machine translationKahmas b. al-Ḥasan narrated it from Muṣʿab b. Thābit, and there is disagreement about it from him. Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muqriʾ and Jaʿfar b. Sulaymān al-Ḍubaʿī narrated it from Kahmas, from Muṣʿab b. Thābit, from ʿAbdullāh b. al-Zubayr, from ʿUthmān; Muslim b. Ibrāhīm said this from Jaʿfar. Khālid b. Yazīd al-Muqriʾ said, from Jaʿfar, from Kahmas, from Muṣʿab b. Thābit b. ʿAbdullāh b. al-Zubayr, from ʿUthmān, as a mursal report. Likewise said ʿAbdullāh b. Idrīs, Abū Isḥāq al-Fazārī, Ghundar and Rawḥ b. ʿUbādah, from Kahmas, and this is the correct version.
