✧ Uthman called some people from the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ, among them Ammar b. Yasir, and said: "I am asking you, and I would love for you to be truthful to me. I adjure you by God, do you know that the Messenger of God ﷺ preferred Quraysh over all other people, and preferred Banu Hashim over all other Quraysh?" The people remained silent. Uthman said: "If I had the keys of Paradise in my hand, I would give them to Banu Umayya so that they could enter from the last of them." Then he sent for Talha and al-Zubayr. Uthman said: "Shall I not tell you about him—meaning Ammar? I went with the Messenger of God ﷺ, holding my hand, walking in al-Batha' until he came upon his father and his mother while they were being tortured. Abu Ammar said: 'O Messenger of God, is time always like this?' The Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'Be patient.' Then he said: 'O God, forgive the family of Yasir, and You have already done so.'"
