✧ Al-'Aqib and al-Sayyid, the two leaders of Najran, came. He said: They wanted to invoke mutual curses with the Messenger of God ﷺ. He said: One of them said to his companion: Do not invoke curses with him, for by God, if he is a prophet and we curse him—Khalaf said: and we invoke curses—we will never prosper, nor will our descendants ever. He said: So they came to him and said: We will not invoke curses with you, but we will give you what you asked, so send with us a trustworthy man. The Prophet ﷺ said: I will surely send a trustworthy man, truly trustworthy, truly trustworthy. He said: The companions of Muhammad craned their necks for it. He said: Then he said: Stand, O Abu 'Ubaydah b. al-Jarrah. He said: When they turned away, he said: This is the trustworthy one of this ummah.
