حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ خُمَيْرِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

أُمِرَ بِالْمَصَاحِفِ أَنْ تُغَيَّرَ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَغُلَّ مُصْحَفَهُ فَلْيَغُلَّهُ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ غَلَّ شَيْئًا جَاءَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ مِنْ فَمِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَبْعِينَ سُورَةً، أَفَأَتْرُكُ مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ.

Translation

✧ Command was given that the codices be changed. He said: Ibn Mas'ud said: Whoever among you can conceal his mushaf, let him conceal it, for whoever conceals anything will bring it on the Day of Resurrection. He said: Then he said: I recited from the mouth of the Messenger of God ﷺ seventy surahs; shall I abandon what I took from the mouth of the Messenger of God ﷺ?
