حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِأَنَّ عُمَرَ

أَتَى الْحَجَرَ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ حَجَرٌ لَا تَضُرُّ وَلَا تَنْفَعُ، وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُقَبِّلُكَ مَا قَبَّلْتُكَ قَالَ: ثُمَّ قَبَّلَهُ.

Translation

Chain of narrators

  3. Abīhiʾan ʿUmar

✧ He came to the Stone and said: “I know that you are a stone that can neither harm nor benefit, and were it not that I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kiss you, I would not have kissed you.” He said: Then he kissed it.
