حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ جَامِعٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ

لَا يَمْنَعُ عَبْدٌ زَكَاةَ مَالِهِ، إِلَّا جُعِلَ لَهُ شُجَاعٌ أَقْرَعُ يَتْبَعُهُ يَفِرُّ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ يَتْبَعُهُ فَيَقُولُ: أَنَا كَنْزُكَ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ عَبْدُ اللهِ مِصْدَاقَهُ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ: سَيُطَوَّقُونَ مَا بَخِلُوا بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Translation

Chain of narrators

  3. Abū Wāʾil
  4. ʿAbdullāh

✧ No servant withholds the zakah of his wealth except that a bald-headed serpent is made for him, following him, and he flees from it while it follows him, saying: “I am your treasure.” Then Abdullah recited its confirmation from the Book of Allah: “They will be collared with what they withheld with on the Day of Resurrection.”
