✧ My Lord, Mighty and Majestic, came to me tonight in the most beautiful form—I think he meant in a dream—and said: “O Muhammad, do you know concerning what the highest assembly disputes?” He said: I replied, “No.” The Prophet ﷺ said: Then He placed His hand between my shoulders until I felt its coolness between my breasts—or he said: on my chest—and I came to know what is in the heavens and what is on the earth. Then He said: “O Muhammad, do you know concerning what the highest assembly disputes?” He said: I replied, “Yes, they dispute concerning expiations and degrees.” He said: “And what are the expiations and the degrees?” He said: Remaining in the mosques after the prayers, walking on foot to the Friday prayers, and completing ablution in difficult circumstances. Whoever does that lives well, dies well, and is freed from his sins as on the day his mother gave birth to him. And say, O Muhammad, when you pray: “O Allah, I ask You for good deeds, abandonment of evil deeds, and love of the poor. And if You intend a trial for Your servants, take me to You without being tried.” He said: And the degrees are: giving food, spreading peace, and praying at night while people sleep.
