Translation

✧ The husband of Barirah was a black slave named Mughith, and I used to see him following her through the streets of Madinah, wiping his eyes over her. The Prophet ﷺ ruled four rulings concerning her: He ruled that allegiance belongs to the one who frees; he gave her the choice; he ordered her to observe the waiting period—Hammam once said: the waiting period of a free woman—and charity was given to her, and she gave some of it as a gift to Aishah, who mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: It is charity for her and a gift for us.
