حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ وَحَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ الْمَعْنَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

جِئْتُ أَنَا وَالْفَضْلُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ - قَالَ الْخَيَّاطُ، يَعْنِي حَمَّادًا: فِي فَضَاءٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ - فَمَرَرْنَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وَنَحْنُ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى جَاوَزْنَا عَامَّةَ الصَّفِّ، فَمَا نَهَانَا، وَلَا رَدَّنَا

✧ I and al-Fadl came on a donkey while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was praying with the people – al-Khayyat, meaning Hammad, said: in an open area of land – and we passed in front of him while we were on it, until we passed beyond most of the row, and he did not forbid us or turn us back.
