✧ When death approached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: "Come, I will write for you a document after which you will never go astray." There were men in the house, among them 'Umar b. al-Khattab. 'Umar said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is overcome by pain, and you have the Qur'an. The Book of Allah is sufficient for us." The people of the house differed and argued. Some of them said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ will write for you," or he said: "Bring near, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will write for you." Others said what 'Umar said. When their clamor and disagreement increased, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was distressed, he said: "Get up and leave me." Ibn 'Abbas used to say: "The calamity, the whole calamity, is what prevented the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from writing that document for them due to their disagreement and clamor."
