✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ arrived in Madinah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. He said to them: "What is this day that you fast?" They said: "This is a righteous day. This is a day on which God saved the Children of Israel from their enemy, so Moses ﷺ fasted it." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "I am more entitled to Moses than you." So the Messenger of God ﷺ fasted it and commanded fasting on it.
