✧ Safwan b. Umayyah b. Khalaf was told: "Whoever has not emigrated is ruined." He said: I said: "I will not reach my family until I go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So I mounted my riding camel and came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, they claim that whoever has not emigrated is ruined." He said: "Not at all, Abu Wahb. Return to the valleys of Makkah." He said: While I was sleeping, a thief came and took my garment from under my head. I caught him and brought him to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "This man stole my garment." So he ordered that his hand be cut off. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, that is not what I wanted; it is charity for him." He said: "Why not before you brought him to me?"
