حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي خَالَتِي فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ قَالَتْ

أَتَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ، فَقُلْتُ لَهَا: يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، قَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ لَا يَكُونَ لِي حَظٌّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ، وَأَنْ أَكُونَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ أَمْكُثُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ مِنْ يَوْمِ أُسْتَحَاضُ فَلَا أُصَلِّي لِلهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ صَلَاةً، قَالَتِ: اجْلِسِي حَتَّى يَجِيءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ. فَلَمَّا جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَذِهِ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ تَخْشَى أَنْ لَا يَكُونَ لَهَا حَظٌّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ، وَأَنْ تَكُونَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ تَمْكُثُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ مِنْ يَوْمِ تُسْتَحَاضُ فَلَا تُصَلِّي لِلهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيهِ صَلَاةً فَقَالَ: مُرِي فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ فَلْتُمْسِكْ كُلَّ شَهْرٍ عَدَدَ أَيَّامِ أَقْرَائِهَا، ثُمَّ تَغْتَسِلُ وَتَحْتَشِي وَتَسْتَثْفِرُ وَتَنَظَّفُ، ثُمَّ تَطَهَّرُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ وَتُصَلِّي فَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ رَكْضَةٌ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ، أَوْ عِرْقٌ انْقَطَعَ، أَوْ دَاءٌ عَرَضَ لَهَا

Translation

✧ I came to Aisha and said to her: "O Mother of the Believers, I fear that I may have no share in Islam and that I may be among the people of the Fire, remaining as long as God wills from the day I have istihadah and do not pray any prayer to God, Mighty and Majestic." She said: "Sit until the Prophet ﷺ comes." When the Prophet ﷺ came, she said: "O Messenger of God, this is Fatimah bt. Abi Hubaysh. She fears that she may have no share in Islam and that she may be among the people of the Fire, remaining as long as God wills from the day she has istihadah and does not pray any prayer to God, Mighty and Majestic, during it." He said: "Tell Fatimah bt. Abi Hubaysh to refrain for the number of days of her periods each month, then she should bathe, use a cloth, secure it, and cleanse herself. Then she should purify herself at every prayer and pray, for that is only a kick from Satan, or a vein that has burst, or a disease that has afflicted her."
