✧ Abu Dharr al-Ghifari used to serve the Prophet ﷺ, and when he finished his service he would retire to the mosque, which was his home and where he would lie down. The Messenger of God ﷺ entered the mosque one night and found Abu Dharr asleep, stretched out in the mosque. The Messenger of God ﷺ nudged him with his foot until he sat up. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him, 'Do I not see you sleeping?' Abu Dharr said, 'O Messenger of God, where should I sleep? Do I have any house other than it?' The Messenger of God ﷺ sat down beside him and said to him, 'How will it be for you when they expel you from it?' He said, 'Then I will join Syria, for Syria is the land of emigration, the land of the gathering, and the land of the prophets, and I will be a man of its people.' He said to him, 'How will it be for you when they expel you from Syria?' He said, 'Then I will return to it, and it will be my house and my dwelling.' He said, 'How will it be for you when they expel you from it a second time?' He said, 'Then I will take my sword and fight for myself until I die.' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ smiled at him and held him firmly with his hand, and said, 'Shall I guide you to something better than that?' He said, 'Yes, may my father and mother be your ransom, O Prophet of God.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said, 'Submit to them wherever they lead you, and go along with them wherever they drive you, until you meet me while you are upon that.'
