✧ We were with the Prophet ﷺ in his house when he said: “When it is three years before the emergence of the Dajjal, the sky withholds one third of its rain and the earth withholds one third of its vegetation. When it is the second year, the sky withholds two thirds of its rain and the earth withholds two thirds of its vegetation. When it is the third year, the sky withholds all of its rain and the earth withholds all of its vegetation, and no creature with a hoof or a cloven hoof remains but perishes. Then the Dajjal says to a man from the desert people: ‘What do you think—if I revive your camels with large udders and great humps, will you know that I am your lord?’ He says: ‘Yes.’ So the devils appear to him in the form of his camels, and he follows him. And he says to a man: ‘What do you think—if I revive your father and your son and those of your family whom you know, will you know that I am your lord?’ He says: ‘Yes.’ So the devils appear to him in their forms, and he follows him.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out, and the people of the house wept. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned while we were weeping, and he said: “What makes you weep?” I said: “O Messenger of Allah, what you mentioned about the Dajjal. By Allah, the maidservant of my family kneads her dough and it does not finish before my liver nearly falls apart from hunger, so what will we do on that day?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “On that day, the glorification of Allah (takbir), praise of Allah (tasbih), and praise (tahmid) will suffice the believers instead of food and drink.” Then he said: “Do not weep, for if the Dajjal emerges while I am among you, I will be the one to contend with him on your behalf, and if he emerges after me, then Allah is my successor over every Muslim.”
