حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ الْعَمِّيُّ أَبُو عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ مَوْلًى لِابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ يُقَالُ لَهُ يُوسُفُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ أَوِ الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنِ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتِ زَمْعَةَ قَالَتْ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَحُجَّ، قَالَ: أَرَأَيْتَكَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ عَنْهُ قُبِلَ مِنْكَ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ ﷺ: فَاللهُ أَرْحَمُ، حُجَّ عَنْ أَبِيكَ

Translation

✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “My father is an elderly man who cannot perform the Hajj.” He said, “Do you think that if your father owed a debt and you paid it on his behalf, it would be accepted from you?” He said, “Yes.” He ﷺ said, “Then Allah is more merciful. Perform the Hajj on behalf of your father.”
