حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يُونُسَ الْقُشَيْرِيُّ حَاتِمُ بْنُ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍعَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ فَأَتَتْهُ بِشَرَابٍ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ، ثُمَّ فَضَلَتْ مِنْهُ فَضْلَةً، فَنَاوَلَهَا فَشَرِبَتْهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَقَدْ فَعَلْتُ شَيْئًا مَا أَدْرِي يُوَافِقُكَ أَمْ لَا ؟ قَالَ: وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا أُمَّ هَانِئٍ ؟ قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ صَائِمَةً فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَرُدَّ فَضْلَكَ، فَشَرِبْتُهُ قَالَ: تَطَوُّعًا أَوْ فَرِيضَةً ؟ قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: بَلْ تَطَوُّعًا. قَالَ: فَإِنَّ الصَّائِمَ الْمُتَطَوِّعَ بِالْخِيَارِ إِنْ شَاءَ صَامَ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ أَفْطَرَ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ entered upon her on the day of the conquest. She brought him a drink, and he drank from it. Then some remained, and he handed it to her, and she drank it. Then she said: “O Messenger of Allah, I have done something, and I do not know whether it agrees with you or not.” He said: “And what is that, O Umm Hani'?” She said: “I was fasting, and I disliked rejecting your leftover, so I drank it.” He said: “Voluntarily or obligatory?” She said: I said: “Rather voluntarily.” He said: “The voluntary faster has the choice: if he wishes, he fasts; and if he wishes, he breaks his fast.”
