✧ When Hamzah b. 'Abd al-Muttalib came to Madinah, he married Khawlah bint Qays b. Qahd al-Ansariyyah from the Banu al-Najjar. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit Hamzah in her house, and she would narrate hadiths from him ﷺ. She said: One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us, and I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I heard that you say that on the Day of Resurrection you will have a basin (hawd) between such and such.' He said: 'Yes, and the people I love most to drink from it are your people.' She said: I brought him a pot containing a flatbread—or harīrah (a kind of soup)—and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ put his hand into the pot to eat, and his fingers got burned. He said: 'Hass (an expression of pain).' Then he said: 'The son of Adam, if cold afflicts him, says hass, and if heat afflicts him, says hass.'
